Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C, a school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school.

The law outlines four major areas of responsibility for councils. School councils are to assist principals in:

• Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
• Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
• Reviewing the annual school building budget
• Formulating a school improvement plan

The  2006 – 2007 Carlisle School Advisory Council is composed of 3 staff members, 3 parents and 1 community representative. Members include:

            Principals: Patrice Hurley and Paul Graseck

            Teacher: Sandy Kelly

            Parents: Hunter Hutchinson, Alex Krapf and Vera Tice

            Community Representative: Nadine Bishop

During the school year we will meet each month in the principal’s office.

Any community member is welcome to attend meetings which are scheduled from 3:15 – 4:30 PM on November 7, December 5, January 2, February 6, March 6, April 3, May 1 and June 5.

The committee welcomes participation during the last ten minutes of each meeting. In addition, comments and suggestions may be sent to the committee at schoolcouncil@carlisle.mec.edu.
