Grade 7 Curriculum
SPANISH
This class meets 4 times a week.
The major objective of this course is to further continue with the foundations of the Spanish language: basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and the fundamental rules of grammatical structure.
The primary focus is oriented toward the development of functional proficiency. Students will continue to work on everyday speech, using practical vocabulary. They will be asked to apply this vocabulary in context, either in written or oral form. Skits, songs, games and classroom drills will provide students with opportunities to practice their communication and pronunciation skills.

The course will also introduce the students to the various Hispanic cultures of Puerto Rico, Mexico City and Central America. Cultural topics will provide students with factual information about geography, modern life and historical events. Students will compare and contrast the Hispanic and American cultures to make connections and develop an appreciation for differences.
Songs, readings, short poems, videos and additional cultural materials are added to the textbook program to enhance cultural knowledge throughout this course.
