Grade 6 Curriculum

SPANISH

This class meets 3 times a week.

The major objective of this course is to further continue the aquisition of the foundations of the Spanish language: additional basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and adding more of the fundamental rules of grammatical structure.

Students will be introduced to practical vocabulary, and be asked to apply this vocabulary in context, either in written or oral form.  Skits, songs, games and classroom drills will provide students with opportunities to practice their communication and pronunciation skills.

The course will also introduce the students to the various Hispanic cultures Mexico and the United States. Cultural topics will provide students with factual information about geography, modern life and historical events. Students will compare and contrast the Hispanic and American cultures to make connections and develop an appreciation for differences.
